Hollydell Ice Arena- Coronavirus Update- March 15th
|Hollydell Ice Arena Community
This afternoon I was advised that the parent of a visiting team player in the 12U division of the NJYHL Playoffs at Hollydell on March 6th to 8th has tested positive for COVID-19. I was informed that neither the parent nor player were symptomatic during the event. Hollydell did not have a Hurricanes team in the 12U division. As reviewed below and in previous communications, we have focused on facility cleanliness over the last year, and have redoubled our efforts to make sure the facility is sanitized daily with high use surfaces cleansed multiple times per day. This includes all facility locker rooms. To aid in our efforts to keep our community as safe as possible, we continue to ask our families to follow the CDC recommendations to prevent illness. The Centers for Disease Control recommend calling your healthcare provider if you think you have been exposed to COVID-19 AND develop a fever and symptoms, such as a cough or difficulty breathing. The best way to avoid exposure is to practice social distancing and good hygiene, including frequent hand washing.
Included below is our communication from March 14th, outlining the steps we have already taken to allow our community to practice social distancing while at Hollydell.
March 14th Communication
As promised in our last communication, we continue to closely follow updates from government, health authorities and the governing bodies of the sports we support at Hollydell. While it is arguably the harder decision, we currently intend to keep Hollydell open. We are making this difficult decision because we continue to believe we are a valuable resource for the community during this trying time, and we believe we can follow social distancing guidelines within the rink environment. We will continue to do our best to mitigate the risk at the rink with aggressive cleaning, and we ask our families to follow the CDC recommendations to prevent illness. We are also making the changes outlined below to minimize overcrowded situations. Of course, we defer to our families if a more conservative approach is appropriate for them. And, if changing conditions dictate that we reassess this decision, we will do so.
AAHA Tier 1 and Tier 2 Tryouts for 12U, 10U and 8U
As per this communication from the AAHA, all tryouts at 12U, 10U and 8U have been postponed. We will promptly update our community as the AAHA provides additional updates.
We intend to offer two locker rooms to all groups / teams. This will minimize locker room crowding. We are also requiring any players who are still using permanent locker rooms to bring their gear home so these rooms can be thoroughly cleaned.
Stick & Puck, Open Hockey and Public Skating
Until notified otherwise, we are limiting the number of skaters on the ice for these sessions to 30.
Spring Team Sessions
All of these sessions have well less than 30 players, and will continue as scheduled.
LTS / LTP / Jr. Hurricanes
We will continue classes through the end of the current session.
As we wrap up our winter season, we currently plan to continue as scheduled.
Please feel free to reach out to us, and thank you for being a part of the Hollydell family.
