Princess Camp

2008 Hollydell Ice Arena

Ages 4-10

Thank you for joining us this summer.  We are going to have a wonderful season, full of Princess Magic as we skate to a medley of Disney Music!  We put safety first.  Please read this letter carefully and fill out all enclosed forms.  All forms need to be filled out before the first day of camp. This summer your princess will be exposed to ballet, hip hop, skating, and some off-ice conditioning (princesses may be outside under close supervision for conditioning or a group walk to the water ice stand).  Please look over the following points to help the summer start smoothly (please call if you have any questions): Miss Gina (609) 820 – 0133.

 Frequently Asked Questions

1.  Sign-in and Sign-out List                  On the enclosed form you will fill out the approved people that will be dropping off and picking up your princess from camp.  Everyday you must sign her in and out.  You cannot drop her off at the door and wait at the door to pick them up.  We will not release a princess to anyone who is not on the pick up list.  On the form there is a password section.  If you need to call ahead and let us know someone will be picking up your princess who is not on your list, we will ask your password to make sure it is you.  Drop off is 8:50 am and pick up is 3:00 pm.

Before and aftercare is available 8a to 8:50a AND/OR 3:00p - 5:30 p for $5 for am and $5 for pm each day.

2.  Dress Code                                     Have your princess wear skating attire to the rink with sneakers (no sandals or healies).  Hair needs to be up off of the neck in a tight bun everyday.  NO LOOSE HAIR.   If your princess shakes her head vigorously and hair is coming loose, it is not tight enough or you need more bobby pins and hairspray.  Pink ballet tights, pink ballet slippers, and a black leotard need to be packed everyday for ballet class.  Please check to make sure tights are free of holes.  Pack a sweatshirt or sweater, mittens, skates, skate guards, skate soakers, and small blanket/pillow (there will be a nap/quiet time offered for those who may need a nap).  Personal items need to be brought home everyday.  You can pack shorts and t-shirt for your child to change into for conditioning or to go home in (no tank tops, belly shirts, and shorts need to come 2” above knee when standing).  Earrings are not allowed to be bigger than an eraser.  No make up.  All clothing must have your name on it.

3. Equipment                                        Helmets are required for princesses under five unless approved by Miss Gina. Knee pads are strongly encouraged for all skaters.  Skate rental is included but discouraged.  If your feet are thin, buy Don Jackson Mystiques.  If your feet are regular to wide, buy Reidell Red, White, or Blue Ribbons.  They can be found in the pro shop.  The skates come with a factory sharpening and the pro shop needs to sharpen the skates before you skate (only let the owner sharpen your new skates) Skates may take up to six weeks, so order right away.  Get a ˝ size bigger than your child’s bigger foot.  Do not let your child step on anything but the ice with skates without skate guards on.  Use skate soakers when not in use to protect the blade and keep from rusting.  If you keep the rubber guards on in the skate bag, it will rust the blade and you will need to get a sharpening just to remove the rust.  Wear thin tights to skate. Thick socks just cause blisters.

4. Discipline                                          Upon misbehaving, the princess will be pulled aside and calmly talked to about why her actions were inappropriate.  The appropriate behavior will be explained gently.  The second time the same action is expressed, the child will be given a homework assignment; researching, reading a book, or talking to a loved one about why what they did is not the right choice to make.  The third time, a home connection to the parents explaining the problem will occur so the parents, camp director, and counselor can talk about the best way to teach the child.  The fourth time may result in the child not participating in some camp activities.

Severe misbehavior – profanity, destruction of property, mistreating other children, physical or verbal abuse or defiant children will be excused from camp.

5. Meals                                               Lunch and snacks can be purchased through the camp food program (the snack bar provides healthy meals for our camp).  A refrigerator is available for your use for those who want to pack a lunch.  Please mark the bags with your child’s name.  The children get hungry so pack extra snacks.  No soda, candy, gum, sugar juice, cakes, cookies allowed.  Only milk, 100% no added sugar juice, or water allowed.  (Pretzels/popcorn/potato chips/peanut butter or cheese crackers, goldfish, and fruit are all allowed) Fridays the children are allowed root beer or sprite.

6. Payment                                           Payment is due on the first day of each camp week for that week.

8. Immunization Record                        Please supply a copy of immunization records against diphtheria, tetanus, polio, measles, pertussis, mumps, and rubella, or provide a statement from your doctor that immunizations are in progress.

9.  Fill out attached forms                      Release for advertising, Medication form, Health History form, Emergency Contact, Drop-off/Pick-up form, Meal Plan form, After Care form, and registration form. Some forms are not included in the on-line application and will be sent to you after your application is received.

Before and After Camp Care

Before and After Camp Care is $5 per morning and/or afternoon and we need to know in

advance to make sure we have enough coverage.  Late pick ups will be an extra $50 for

that day.  5:31 PM sign-out is late.  The workers in camp need to leave and go home to

their families or may need to be somewhere.  It was an issue in the past.  I am sorry for

the inconvenience.  If you pick up your child late three times, you will not be able to

utilize After Camp Care services.  You may pack extra food for Camp Care, just mark it

on the bag with their name on it.  Food is not included.

I will be utilizing before/after camp care.  No credits/make-ups/refunds
