           SUMMER CHALLENGE

            
                     TOURNAMENT RULES

Players / Rosters:
 
1) Players: All tournament players must be listed on your first game sheet, which will become
    your final tournament roster. All players will be required to sign in prior to the game!
2) Roster Size: Maximum of 20 players may be registered.
2) Each team must be prepared to furnish proof of age for any of it's players upon the 
    tournament director's request. Failure to do so will mean the expulsion of that player from
    the tournament until such proof can be shown.
3) No Protests will be accepted!
4) A player must participate in at least 2 (two) game during the round robin portion of the 
    tournament to be eligible for the playoff round.

Game & Playing Rules:
 
1) All teams are guaranteed 4 games.
2) Game Length: Periods will be 13, 13, 15 minutes for all age classifications.
3) Scoring: 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, 0 points for a loss.
4) There will be NO overtime in the Round Robin portion of the tournament.
5) Time Outs: No time outs allowed except in Finals where only one time out will be
    allowed per team.
6) Mercy Rule: If by or at any time during the third period one team is ahead by 6 goals
    or more, running time will commence and will not revert back. If by or at any time
    during the third period one team is ahead by 10 goals or more, the game will end.
    The maximum goal differential (for plus/minus purposes) will be 10.
7) Slapshots will be allowed for 1997 age classification and above only.
8) Body Contact (Checking): Body checking will be permitted in the 1997, 1996, 1995, 1994, 1993, 1992/1991 divisions only.
9) Game Misconducts: Any player receiving a game misconduct will be suspended for the
    remainder of that game only. However, players receiving a game misconduct in the last
    10 minutes of the third period will be suspended for the next game.
10) Match Penalties: Will result in expulsion from the tournament and will be reported to
      USA or Canadian Hockey.
11) Coaches and Trainers: A maximum of four coaches/trainers are allowed behind the
      bench during games. Each team must provide their own medical trainer.
12) Penalty Box: Each team must provide a penalty box attendant during each game.
13) Ice Resurface: The ice will be resurfaced after each game.
14) No Red Line: We will be playing with NO red line. Therefore, 2 line passes will be
      permitted.
15) Game Sheets: Home and Visitors status on game sheets shall supersede any  other
      listings. Coaches must sign game sheets. All team must complete their respective game
      at least 15 minutes prior to each game time to to insure no sweater color conflicts. Home
      team will give the game sheet to the officials.
16) Behavior: Coaches and Managers are responsible for controlling their players and parents
      to insure that each game is played safely, with no vulgar language or harmful infractions
      displayed. Team management is responsible for any damages caused by their children
      to arena facility. Unruly fans will be ejected from the facility for the remainder of 
      the tournament.
17) Liability waiver: The tournament will not be responsible for injuries to a player, coach,
      or spectator, or the transport of injured players. It is the team's and parent's    
      responsibility to insure that all of your players are covered by insurance prior to the
      tournament.
18) Disputes: Tournament Director and/or Tournament Head Referee can waive any rule
      and make any final decisions as necessary. 

Divisional Tie-Breakers
 
1) Most Games Won
2) Head to Head
3) Best differential (formula= Goals for + Goals against/goals against)
4) Least goals allowed
5) Most goals for
6) Least Penalty minutes during tournament

Semi-Finals/Finals Tie Breakers
 
1) One, Five minute sudden death period, 5 on 5 with Goaltender
2) One, Five minute sudden death period, 4 on 4 with Goaltender
3) One, Five minute sudden death period, 3 on 3 with Goaltender
4) Shoot-Out, Three penalty shots for each team, if tie persists, one penalty shot each until
    a winner is determined.
